Foot pain
Remove Painful Obstruction Decoction. This formula, which dispels the Wind, eliminates the Cold, resolves the Damp, promotes the Qi and Blood circulation and relieves the pain, is indicated in foot pain due to invasion of Wind, Cold and Damp with stagnation of Qi and Blood. Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong 10g, Hai Feng Teng Caulis Piperis Futokadsurae 10g, Du Huo Radix Angelicae Pubescentis 10g, Huai Niu Xi Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae 10g, and Sang Zhi Fructus Gardeniae 10g should be added to relieve the pain.
Coicis Decoction. This formula has a strong function for dispelling the Wind, eliminating the Cold, resolving the Damp and relieving the pain, and is especially indicated in the foot pain due to invasion of Wind, Cold and Damp.
Ephedra Apricot Kernel, Coicis and Licorice Decoction. This formula can be used to treat foot pain in the early stage due to invasion of Wind, Cold and Damp. It can only eliminate Wind, Cold and Damp in general, it is unable to relieve the hip pain specifically.
Huai Niu Xi Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae 10g, Qin Jiao Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae 10g, Rou Gui Cortex Cinnamomi 6g, Cang Zhu Rhizoma Atractylodis 12g, Qiang Huo Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii 12g and Du Huo Radix Angelicae Pubescentis 10g could be added to the prescription to eliminate the External pathogenic factors and relieve the hip pain.
Angelica Pubescens and Sangjisheng Decoction. This formula is indicated in chronic foot pain due to invasion of Wind, Cold and Damp with deficiency of Liver and Kidney. Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong 10g, Hai Feng Teng Caulis Piperis Futokadsurae 10g and Sang Zhi Fructus Gardeniae 10g should be added to relieve the pain.
Notopterygium Dispelling Dampness Decoction. This formula can be used to treat acute foot pain with a lot of External symptoms due to invasion of Wind, Cold and Damp, especially Wind-Damp. Cang Zhu Rhizoma Atractylodis 10g and Chuan Niu Xi Radix Cyathulae 10g could be added to the prescription.
Disband Painful Obstruction Decoction. This formula clears the Heat, eliminates the Damp and relieves the pain, and so is indicated in foot pain due to invasion of Wind, Damp and Heat. However, its effectiveness on the pain is limited, so Jiang Huang Rhizoma Curcumae Longae 15g, Hai Tong Pi Cortex Erythrinae 15g and Sang Zhi Ramulus Mori 15g, etc., could be added.
Eliminate Wind Powder from True Lineage. This formula clears the Heat, eliminates the Damp and stops itching, so it is often used to treat itching. However, it can also be used for foot pain by adding Jiang Huang Rhizoma Curcumae Longae 15g, Hai Tong Pi Cortex Erythrinae 15g and Sang Zhi Ramulus Mori 15g, etc.
1. If there is a cold sensation on the feet, add Gui Zhi Ramulus Cinnamomi 10g to dispel the Cold, warm the channels and relieve the pain
2. If there is swelling in the feet, add Ze Xie Rhizoma Alismatus 10g and Fu Ling Poria 10g to promote urination and relieve the swelling
3. If the appetite is poor, add Ji Nei Jin Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli 15g and Mai Ya Fructus Hordei Germinatus 10g to activate the Stomach and improve the appetite
4. If there is a nasal discharge and sneezing, add Huo Xiang Herba Agastachis 12g to dispel the External symptoms and stop the sneezing
5. If there is diarrhoea, add Fu Ling Poria 10g to activate the Spleen, eliminate the Damp and relieve the diarrhoea.

Han Shi Bi Chong Ji Cold-Damp Bi Syndrome Infusion
Tian Ma Qu Feng Bu Pian Gastrodia Dispel Wind Formula Tablet.
TE-5 Waiguan, LI-4 Hegu, SI-3 Houxi, SI-4 Wangu, BL-63 Jinmen, BL-64 Jinggu, LR-3 Taichong, SP-6 Sanyinjiao and some local Ah Shi points. Reducing method is used on these points. Moxibustion is used on the first six points in case of invasion of Wind, Cold and Damp.
▪ TE-5, the Connecting point of the Triple Burner channel, and LI-4, the Source point of the Large Intestine channel, dispel the External pathogenic factors and relieve the External symptoms
▪ SI-4 and BL-64, the Source point of the Small Intestine channel and the Bladder channel respectively, dispel Wind, promote the urination and eliminate the Damp
▪ SI-3, the Stream point of the small Intestine channel, and BL-63, the Accumulation point of the Bladder channel, harmonise the collateral, promote the Qi and Blood circulation in the channels and relieve the foot pain
▪ LR-3, the Stream and Source point of the Liver channel, and SP-6, the crossing point of the three Yin channels of the foot, promote the Qi and Blood circulation in the body and channels and eliminate Blood stasis so as to relieve the foot pain
▪ Local Ah Shi points promote the Qi and Blood circulation and relieve the pain
▪ Moxibustion warms the channels, dispels the Cold and relieves the pain.
LU-7 Lieque, SP-9 Yinlingquan, GB-34 Yanglingquan and GB-40 Qiuxu, etc.
1. If there is a sharp pain with cold sensation, add BL-60 and ST-44 to promote the circulation of Qi and relieve the pain
2. If there is a heavy sensation of the feet, add SP-9 to promote the urination and eliminate the Damp
3. If there is an obvious aversion to exposing the feet to cold, add ST-36 with moxibustion to promote the circulation of Qi and dispel the External Cold
4. If there is generalised body pain and headache, add GB-20 to dispel Wind and Cold and relieve the External symptoms
5. If the appetite is poor, add SP-3, the Source point of the Spleen channel, and CV-12, the Front Collecting point of the Stomach, to activate the Spleen, regulate the Stomach-Qi and improve the appetite.
The principal symptoms are acute occurrence of foot pain, swelling, redness, heat and severe pain of the feet, and an inability of the foot to touch the ground. Other symptoms include high fever, restlessness, insomnia, thirst, constipation, red tongue with a yellow and dry coating, and a rapid and forceful pulse.
Clear the Heat, remove the Toxin, subside the swelling and relieve the pain.
Five-Ingredient Decoction to Eliminate Toxin. This formula is indicated in foot pain due to invasion of Toxic Fire as it clears the Heat, reduces the Fire, removes the Toxin, reduces the swelling and relieves the pain. Huang Bai Cortex Phellodendrii 10g, Chuan Niu Xi Radix Cyathulae Officinalis 10g, Sang Zhi Ramulus Mori 10g, Luo Shi Teng Caulis Trachelospermi 15g, Da Qing Ye Folium isatidis 10g, etc., could be added to clear the Heat, remove the Toxin and relieve the pain.
White Tiger Ramulus Cinnamomi Decoction. This formula, which clears the Heat, reduces the Fire, removes the Toxin, reduces the swelling and relieves the pain, is indicated in foot pain due to invasion of Toxic Fire. Huang Bai Cortex Phellodendrii 10g, Chuan Niu Xi Radix Cyathulae Officinalis 10g, Jin Yin Hua Flos Lonicerae 10g, Sang Zhi Ramulus Mori 10g, Luo Shi Teng Caulis Trachelospermi 15g, Da Qing Ye Folium isatidis 10g, etc., could be added to clear the Heat, remove the Toxin and relieve the pain.
1. If there is redness and swelling of the feet, add and Sheng Di Huang Radix Rehmanniae Recens 10g and Long Dan Cao Radix Gentianae 5g to clear Damp-Heat and reduce the swelling
2. If there is itching on the feet, add Bai Xian Pi Cortex Dictamni Radicis 10g and Ku Shen Radix Sophorae Flavescentis 10g to clear Damp-Heat and relieve the itching
3. If there is a stabbing pain in the foot, add Pu Huang Pollen Typhae 10g and Dan Shen Radix Salvia Miltiorrhizae 10g to promote the circulation of Blood and eliminate its stasis
4. If there is a wound on the foot, add San Qi Radix Notoginseng 10g to eliminate Toxin and promote healing of the wound
5. If there is nervousness, add Xia Ku Cao Spica Prunellae 10g to clear the Heat in the Liver and calm Liver-Fire
6. If there is throat pain and swelling, add Ma Bo Lasiosphaera seu Calvatia 5g to benefit the throat and reduce the swelling
7. If there is coughing with expectoration of yellow phlegm, add Niu Bang Zi Fructus Arctii 5g to eliminate Phlegm and relieve the cough
8. If there is restlessness and insomnia, add Dan Zhu Ye Herba Lophatheri 10g to clear Heat from the Heart
9. If there is constipation due to blockage of the Large Intestine by Heat, add Da Huang Radix et Rhizoma Rhei 10g to clear Heat and promote defecation so as to relieve the constipation.
Niu Huang Jie Du Pian Cattle Gallstone Tablet to Resolve Toxin.
TE-6 Zhigou, LI-4 Hegu, LI-11 Quchi, ST-44 Neiting, SP-6 Sanyinjiao, SP-10 Xuehai and KI-2 Rangu as well as some local Ah Shi points. Reducing method is used on these points.
▪ TE-6 promotes the function of the Triple Burner and eliminates the Heat and Toxin from the body.
▪ ST-44, the Spring point of the Stomach channel, clears the Heat and reduces the Fire, so as to eliminate redness and swelling. It is also a Water point according to the Five Element theory, and Water controls Fire, so it is a suitable point.
▪ LI-4 and LI-11, the Source point and the Sea point of the Large Intestine channel respectively, relieve the Heat and circulate the channel so as to sedate the pain. In most cases of invasion of Toxic Heat, there is fever. When these two points are applied together, the reduction of fever will be greater.
▪ SP-6, the crossing point of the three Yin channels of the foot, and SP-10, together with the local Ah Shi points, cool the Blood, eliminate the Toxin, reduce the swelling and relieve foot pain.
▪ KI-2, the Spring point of the Kidney channel, clears the Heat, reduces the fever and reduces the swelling in the foot.
LU-7 Lieque, TE-5 Waiguan, LR-2 Xingjian, GB-34 Yanglingquan and GB-43 Xiaxi, etc.
1. If there is redness and swelling of the feet, add GB-43 to clear Damp-Heat and reduce the swelling
2. If there is itching on the feet, add LR-2 to clear Damp-Heat and relieve the itching
3. If there is a stabbing pain in the foot, add KI-1 to sedate the pain
4. If there is a wound in the foot, add Extra Bafeng to eliminate the Toxin and promote the healing of the wound
