Axillary pain
Five-Ingredient Decoction to Eliminate Toxin. This formula has function to eliminate the Toxin, subside the swelling and relieve the pain. Some other herbs to sedate the pain, such as Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici Wallichii 10g, Yan Hu Suo Fructus Corydalis 10g, Qing Pi Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride 5g and Chuan Lian Zi Fructus Meliae Toosendan 10g, etc, should be added to relieve the pain.
Coptis Decoction to Relieve Toxicity. This formula is good for clearing the Toxic and reducing the Fire, but its effect on the pain is not sufficient, so some other herbs have to added, such as Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici Wallichii 10g, Yu Jin Tuber Curcumae 10g, and Bai Zhi Radix Angelicae Dahuricae 10g, etc., to relieve the pain.
1. If there are severe chills, fever and headache, add Da Qing Ye Folium isatidis 12g to clear the Heat and reduce the fever
2. If the skin is red with a burning feeling owing to disturbance of the Blood by Toxic Heat, add Zi Cao Radix Arnebiae seu Lithospermi 10g, Sheng Di Huang Radix Rehmanniae Recens 10g, Chi Shao Radix Paeoniae Rubra 10g and Xuan Shen Radix Scrophulariae 10g to cool the Blood and reduce the pain
3. If there are hard glands and tenderness under the arm, add Xuan Shen Radix Scrophulariae 10g, Mu Li Concha Ostreae 15g and Zhe Bei Mu Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii 15g to soften the hardness
4. If there is deficiency of the Qi and Blood, add Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis Pilosulae 10g, Huang Qi Radix Astragali seu Hedysari 12g, Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae Alba 10g and Dang Gui Radix Angelicae Sinensis 10g to tonify the Qi and Blood and strengthen the body resistance.
Niu Huang Jie Du Pian Cattle Gallstone Tablet to Resolve Toxin.
GB-22 Yuanye, GB-23 Zhejin, GB-43 Xiaxi, LR-2 Xingjian, LR-14 Qimen, ST-44 Neiting, TE-3 Zhongzhu, LI-11 Quchi and some local Ah Shi points. Reducing method is used in these points.

1. If the pain is severe and the Blood is disturbed, use the Bloodletting technique on the Ah Shi points and BL-40 to reduce the Heat in the Blood
2. If there is acute mastitis, add points from the Bright Yang channels such as ST-16, ST-37, ST-40 and LI-7 to reduce the Heat and swelling.
Pain in the axillary fossa that is worsened by abduction of the arm and emotional upset, and is sometimes stabbing, aggravation of the pain at night or during rest, possible a normal or purplish tongue with a white coating and a deep and wiry pulse are symptoms and signs of stagnation of Qi and Blood.
